Click Your Pic - Photography Exhibition, Coimbatore
Environment Conservation Group (ECG) along with Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), Viscom HICAS and CASFOS are glad to announce the second annual Photography contest/ exhibition “Click your Pic 2012”. The theme for this years photo contest is “Treasures of India”. The printing partner is GLO Digital Press. This exciting and informative event focusing on wildlife photography and conservation will be held from Dec 27st to Dec 30 2012 at Hindustan College of Arts & Science (HICAS), Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. Photography Workshops and expert talk by eminent photographers and conservationists will be conducted during the event. Drawing and quiz competition for school children will also be held.
Now in its second
year, these awards recognise the talents of photographers practicing in the
India, while at the same time highlighting the great wealth and diversity of
Indian natural history. Click Your Pic also aims to encourage discovery,
exploration, conservation and enjoyment of our natural heritage as well as
raising awareness about Indian wildlife species and habitats. “Click Your Pic
2012” celebrates the majesty of the India’s wildlife while also bringing
attention to the issues they face. This incredible
collection of photographs encapsulates both the beauty of the world we live in
and the fragility of nature. Visitors will also enjoy
a wide variety of photographs that reflect the richness and diversity of our
wildlife. Through this event we aim to reach out to
people and spread the message of conservation of our biodiversity. Also on display will be stunning wildlife
images by prominent photographers of India.
Submission has to
be on the following three categories-
• Mammals (incl. Reptiles & amphibians)
• Birds
• Plants & Insects
Participants can submit a maximum of 5 entries across all categories
The key aims of this event are to :
- Raise awareness about Indian biodiversity, species and habitats.
- Recognise the talents of photographers practicing in the India, while at the same time highlight the great wealth and diversity of India’s natural history.
- Celebrate Indian wildlife, in all its beauty and diversity, through a collection of inspirational photographs.
- Showcase the very best of our nature photography to a wide audience and engage all ages with evocative and powerful imagery.
- Encourage discovery, exploration, conservation and enjoyment of our natural heritage.
Winners of the first three places in the
three categories will be awarded certificates and cash prizes of Rs.10,000,
Rs.5,000 and Rs.2,500 respectively. The next 10 top entries will be given
consolation prize.

Mobile: 97878 78910The following are the guidelines for posting the high resolution pictures for ‘Click your Pic’ Competition & Exhibition.
Requirements-
1. Submission has to be on the following categories-
•Mammals (incl. Reptiles & amphibians) (Cat1)
• Birds (Cat2)
• Plants & Insects (Cat3)
2. Participants can submit a maximum of 5 entries across all categories
3. We will be accommodating all the entries confirming to the requirement in the exhibition subject to space availability and the response.
4. Maximum quality size files in jpeg.
5. The photograph should have been taken in India.
6. Photographs should be in colour and should be of the subject taken in the wild. Any photographs taken of the subject in captivity or pictures of nesting birds will be rejected.
7. No signature, No borders.
8. Title is a must for the picture.
9. Brief write-up about the photographer & a brief description of the photo with the title to be submitted.
10. Self declaration that his/her submissions are taken /owned by him/her!!
11. Authorization for photos to be used for publication/ADVT/
12. We need all images in 300 dpi for printing. Images with lesser resolution cannot be printed.
13. The original capture as it was recorded by the camera with no manipulation applied may be required if your image reaches the final stages of the competition and the same has to be sent to us as and when requested.
14. Prints will be returned on the last day of the exhibition to the participants. Participants who wish to receive the prints by courier can avail the service by paying for postage.
15. Last date to submit High Resolution pictures is: 3rd December 2012.
16. While every care will be taken of submissions, the organizers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.
17. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
18. Participants can also give their entries in the non-competitive segment which will be displayed in the non-competitive category in the exhibition solely on space availabilty and at the discretion of the judges and organisers. The entries for the same have to be submitted as a print in matt finish with 12x18 size.
19. We also wish to use this platform as a place to put up your works for sale and hence participants who wish to put them for sale may inform the same in advance and 60% of the said price will be given to the photographer and 40% will be towards contribution to ECG which will go towards the various conservation related activities undertaken by us.
Prize-
1st Prize (one in each category) – Rs.10000
2nd Prize (one in each category) – Rs.5000
3rd Prize (one in each category) – Rs.2500
Consolation Prizes – 10 across categories
Participation certificates will be given to all participants
Nomenclature and formats-
The actual photo
The file name should be Participant name followed by image name followed by category. No spaces. Name to be in Camel case (init capital) e.g. Artiste_GreaterFlamingo_Ca
Description about photo
This file should have the same name as image but with a .txt extension. Write a few lines about the photo in terms of location and a brief description of the subject and a suitable Title for the Snap. This may be needed for magazines. e.g. Artiste_GreaterFlamingo_Ca
Photographer Info
A few lines about the photographer. An introduction about yourself. The file name should be photographer name .txt (no spaces). e.g. Artiste_intro.txt
Fees & Location to upload
Rs.300 to be paid for each entry (maximum 5 entries per participant) for the printing and exhibition
We also intend to bring out a high quality book with the Top 100 entries which will be a feast for the eyes and a treasure to keep. The same will be made available at Rs.999 per book and the same has to be ordered in advance and will be given at the venue or will be couriered (additional courier charges apply)
