Earth Day is celebrated every year since 1970 to teach about the importance of our environment to the society.  Events are held to create an awareness about the ways and means to save our planet, our valuable natural resourses and ecosystems such as Forest, grass lands, wetlands, deserts etc.

On the occasion of Earth Day, Environment Conservation Group in partnership with Sanctuary Asia is organising an environmentally themed documentary  Revealed: The Himalayan Meltdown” for general public at Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Singanallur, Coimbatore  at 10 AM.  This is to spread awareness about our fast changing environment and the disastrous effect it has on our lives.

This documentary is co-produced and presented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) examines how communities in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India and Nepal seek to adapt to their shrinking mountain habitat which contains 40 percent of the earth’s fresh water and is a critical source for irrigation, drinking water and energy to some 1.3 billion people.
